while i was on the computer i encountered a trojan that AVG pulled up. It was a back door and then there was a downloader. Took care of both and then i could not surf the web using firefox or IE. Now i can ping servers and get 4 pings back and can connect to the internet using other systems that are using our router (im using a ps3 to type) Iv tryed backing it up, messing around in network connections and everything. the only thing i have not tryed is wiping the computer (since my windows XP CD is snapped in half.) Im open to any suggestions!

Call Microsoft and tell them that you do own a computer and you had a restore disk that broke and they should send you a new one. You might need to read the numbers on the side/bottom of the computer to them.
