There is a problem with my desktop background. When Windows XP first starts, it is fine. But it momentarily gets replaced with what I think is a web page. Sometimes it shows msn.com, sometimes it just comes up with "Server is too busy" and sometimes it is just a blank screen.
I have looked at all the display properties box and everything is normal. I know the desktop is fine itself but is in fact being covered by the web window, because I can see my desktop background when looking through all my active windows.
I can't find anything on the internet about it. I have done all the virus scans and I know it is not a virus problem. Help.
Desktop background problem... need help.?
When looking at the desktop tab under display properties, hit the button "cutomize desktop". Then there is a tab for 'Web'.
This is where the options for having a web page be your desktop are.

Sounds crazy! I've never heard of such a problem. Erm... have you tried contacting Microsoft? Maybe it's some kind of spyware.

Tholgh you scanned for viruses I believe you have one. Spy Sherief does this but they pur thier webpage on your desktop and automaticley sends you to thier url.. its a pain in the @$$ trust me... If you can... (lol) download AGV free version and or Hijack this and do a scan and delete everything... if that fails you can always take it into a tech (80$ a hr) to see if they can help. I would just reload my OS from the disk.

I have had that and it's hard to get rid off - it is malware. Try Ccleaner - http://www.download.com and then do an online scan with f-secure. http://www.f-secure.com - one of them should get it.
