Hello!
I'd be grateful for advice...
I purchased a domain name with bravenet.com
I also have free hosting with bravenet.
I would now like to build a personal website.
However, I do not like bravenet's templates, website builder, or the style of the ads.
- Is it possible to do anything about this on Bravenet (e.g. can you build a website outside Bravenet then upload, or even use a template not provided by Bravenet on its system?)
- Am I better to build my website then look around for a website host once I know what bandwidth size I need?
Thank you for advice in advance.
Scotty
Website hosting/ building- can I build a cool website on Bravenet (not using their templates)?
You really need something like Dream weaver or Microsoft's Frontpage unfortunately both are pretty expensive for the home website builder but if you search the net you can find free ones not quite as good but will do the job check this site out it may help you http://www.thefreecountry.com/webmaster/...

I personally use Dreamweaver, along with notepad for some quick changes, but these can be expensive. If you are a student you can get a discount on most products. Here is one link I found doing a quick search: http://www.campustech.com/discount-produ...
You might also want to check out some free HTML editors such as coffee cup: http://www.coffeecup.com/free-editor/ or html-kit: http://www.htmlkit.com/
I would stay away from online website builders and free webhosts such as bravenet. They tend to be slow, with minimal features and they also put advertisements on your webpage! There are some cheap hosts out there. Heres a link to a review for webhostingpad.com: http://www.stalebrew.com/2008/webhosts/w...
which seems to be a popular host. I guess you can get $25 off too.
I would maybe gt a web host setup and then start building because you can upload what you have, and start testing your website.
