tools to develop software for the web,for the desktop, clien-server, i doubt if learning VB,or delphi, Mysql, or Firebird, etc,I dont know what is the more profitable package to learn
What are the best combination of tools one need to learn to have a lot of work as a software developer?
Both Java, VB.net and C#.net are good languages to learn. The Java development kit is free from Sun. Microsoft is going to charge you.
Now, Java does not include a database, and .Net has MSDE, a cut down version of SQL Server. However, MySQL is free too, and will work with both.
So, if you want to be Microsoft employable - I recommend learning .Net with SQL Server. If you want to work in a Java shop, then I highly recommend learning Java and MySql.
