Suppose I want to publish something on the Web. There are 2 options:
A: Order a web hosting plan from a web hosting company
B: Set up a web server on my own and connect the server to the Internet via an ISP.
1.If I choose B, name one brand of web server software and give one advantage of the software. Any suggestions?
2. If I choose B, what are the 3 essential steps that i should perform for web users to access the web easily at any time?
3. If I want to include a search function in the web, what are the two brands of software that I should install?
I think SQL and MS Access will be fine. What do you think?

1. web servers are dependent on what language are you using, but iis should be fine.
2. either buy a domain name, or register at http://www.no-ip.com/ for free dns
3. search? sql and ms access are databases, not a search engine, if you want a search function you will have to code them

Well. If you choose option A. You will have to buy a domain name first after this you will also have to buy a hosting package from hosting service provider then you will building your website and will upload your site there. The service provider would be giving you a lot of services as an add on in your package. Like statistics, virus checking, spams in email, protection against hackers etc etc.
