I have all kinds of error messages popping up. acrord.exe explorer.exe and runtime errors. My computer is constantly kicking me off the web. I tried to download some software that would help me scan and correct wrrors but I got the message "cannot download on server edition of windows. I am so confused! Thanks for all you help

Just reformat it. I doubt that you haven't uninstalled the ME. ME and XP conflicts. We are using the ME edition before and it slows tdown the computer and that's what we did. reformat it.

Try going directly to Microsoft. There is a place for downloads that will review your system for you and let you make repairs from there. It gives you a complete list of programs and lets you know what is working and not.

This sounds drastic but a clean install of XP will give you the best results. ME was never a good operating system. The upgrade path from ME to XP is not recommended.

Reinstall XP do windows repair when you do this don't do the first repair that comes up do the second one just keep an eye on it you should not have any problems It sounds like the installation did not finish properly. if you don't have to much important stuff on it you can always do a clean install as well.
