First, I know, the software is unsupported and antiquated. I've got a small business, so I wear all the hats. FP helps me have a web.
That said, here's what's going on.
My web disappeared. Likely due to me trying to publish with my firewall on. Each time I go to my web now, it says "Forbidden
You don't have permission to access / on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache/1.3.33 Server at myweb.com Port 80"
I went live to the web on FP and deleted all of the files. It would not let me delete the "stats" folder (I use godaddy, and I believe they put that there). The message I get there is "cannot remove the file "index.html"
With everything clear, I republished. Now, I get the message "Server error: Cannot change permissions on file "index.html"
All of my other pages are now working except for my index. Obviously I need that one. Any ideas? Help is REALLY appreciated.
I Need help from a FrontPage guru...Please?
Hi there,
You need to change your index permission file to 644. If you use cpanel (godaddy has it?) it's very easy, you can also do it with an FTP program but I don't believe it can be done with FrontPage.
Godaddy is not a very good hosting company, as you know you need to hold for 40 minutes and so on everytime you have a problem.
