I need to start a web hosting service to launch my portal. I am fed up with hired web hosting services. All I need is some information about self hosting and the intricacies and policies comes with it.
How does a web hosting service work? Can anybody suggest me some good web servers (hardware & software)?
Consider http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/ - it is excellent; or if you have no budget then consider www.blogspot.com - you cansetup your own template and can do reasonable amount of hosting.
Not recomended to setup your own service.

a web hosting is most likely creating a domain or your domain. it's posting your ad/information via internet...it means reaching to a BIGGER or most probably the BIGGEST market!!
