LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP).
You'll get all four at once with most Linux distributions. Have a look at OpenSUSE and Ubuntu.
BUT... unless your ISP specifically allows you to run a server, don't do it, unless you want your account suspended. Most plans specifically prohibit you from running a server. Look at the fine print in your contract.
Unless, of course, you're only interested in serving files to other computers on your LAN, or for testing purposes.

Try Apache server and you could host website on your computer.
But if you create website and if you like to run your website 24/7 from your computer, you will have to switch on your computer all the time and it may damage your computer in the long run.
