I would like to force users who connect to my wireless router, to use the colleges proxy server. I understand that this is possible if you change the settings with in the browser, that isn't the best option for us, we would prefer that the router could "force" the computer browser to actually access the internet through the proxy without the user requiring to download or change any settings.
If that isn't possible is there a way to change settings for IE and firefox, using software, which would load the proxy details and then unload them if the user double clicks the program it removes them. If so could you please point me in the direction of such software or source code, preferability visual basic based.
Many thanks!

Force users to use the college web Proxy settings using a wireless router?
Most browsers support proxy auto-detection, and most proxies support sending their settings through the proxy auto-detection protocol.
Configure your proxy to allow browsers to auto-detect its settings, and then block all outgoing requests from computers behind the proxy to ports 21 (FTP), 80 (HTTP), and 443 (HTTPS). This effectively forces them to use the proxy.
Then let your users know that they need to set their browsers to use proxy auto-detection.
