Hi
I am tring to Upload to a FTP server through ISA 2004 that is external to our Network, but I keep getting the following error: 220 ftpserver2 NcFTPd Server (licensed copy) ready.
421 Anonymous logins are not allowed here.
I know the FTP server is configured correctly as I can upload to it from the ISA box. I have setup a FTP rule (Allow).
ISA Logging reports as follows:
Denied Connection BNEPROXY1 6/26/2007 8:45:34 AM
Log type: Web Proxy (Forward)
Status: 12209 The ISA Server requires authorization to fulfill the request. Access to the Web Proxy service is denied.
Rule: FTP Access
ISA 2004 - 421 Anonymous logins are not allowed here.?
Sounds like you just created a Protocol Rule, which only opens up a port. Without a forwarding rule, the Protocol rule will only do as you describe, permit sessions between the ISA and the FTP Server.
Instead, you need to "Publish" the FTP Server.
You will want to configure "Server Publishing" - for some reason it looks like the Web Proxy service is responding which means you're "Web Publishing" instead of "Server Publishing."
With "Web Publishing" ISA is authenticating the client before passing on the request to the FTP Server instead of passing the original client request to the FTP Server for authentication and response.
f the Publishing Wizard isn't clear enough, the ISA help should walk you through what you need to do.
