I paid some one to design a website, which they did but when finished they didnt pass on the details to me such as the password to change things on the website or the name of the hosting company. They said that in about a year i may have to pay a small fee for it to be hosted. I dont pay a month by month hosting fee. Now i cant get in contact with the person that done the design and uploaded it to the web. I dont have any passwords and dont know the server company, is there anything i can do?

1. Go to network-tools.com and run a nslookup on your domain name.

This will give you your websites IP address.

2. Run a network lookup on the IP address you obtained in step 1. This should give you three phone numbers. Normally the Technical Contact will get you in touch with the hosting company.

Many hosting companies have procedures that will let you use a company letterhead or fax in two forms of ID to get access.

Do a whois to find out the domain company, then contact the registrar with your problem. Use netcraft to find the hosting provider and tell them.
