why do you choose a web hosting company over another?
What do you looking for in a web hosting provider?
The needs of the website dictate where hosting is done.
As previously mentioned, any server-side programming needs to be handled on the server. Whether .NET, PYTHON or PHP. Every developer has their own preference of language.
SSL options for credit card transactions (if applciable to the website)
Ability to have a dedicated server.
The biggest factors for webhosting are the
1) uptime - if the site is not targetted globally, I look for a regional host so that the servers don't get upgraded during the peak hours of when the site would be used most often.
2) database access
3) disk space -> most websites don't take up a lot of disk space, but the database can.
4) customer service. If a site is not working, I want to be able to call someone and get the issue resolved.
What do you looking for in a web hosting provider?
1. the amount of traffic it can handle compared with the price they ask.
2. the uptime
3. support
4. extra options: like installers for wordpress, joomla, php, mysql options, ...
5. good ftp access
The one that does the best for the least amount of money I would pick.
