DreamHost.com is an excellent host!!!, it has alot of features, like one click installers, for programs like coppermine photogallery, cutenews, wordpress blogs, etc! and its super easy to use!! check it out!! its really cool! you get tons of bandwidth, and you can chose to pay monthly or yearly, which rocks!! hope I helped :)

I used DreamHost for a while, but found that I had WAY too much downtime.
If you want to go with a virtual private server (which I recommend) I'd stay away from them. There's a good review on BlueHost, HostMonster, and HostGator at http://www.unlimitedhostland.com
