If you are going to use the 'free domain' spaces,
then you may find your good skills in PERL/MySQL
are partly redundant. Not many ( if any ) 'free
domain' spaces allow unrestricted use of scripting
and database technologies, for obvious reasons.
Depending on your requirements, and your internet
connection, you can either choose to host your own
site using dynamic DNS,
http://www.dyndns.com/
or grab a domain and some proper site facilities.
These days they don't cost an arm and a leg, and
the benefits and flexibility you get far outweigh
the spending out of a few Dollars/GB Pounds.
