this is not as easy because it depends on many things, mainly what your target employer is going to be. there are three broad areas o go for. ISP (which often use PHP and MySQL) or corporate which can be either JAVA and Java applicatrion servers or you can go down the microsoft path. I am a microsoft person and I recommend JAVA devlopement and something like websphere application server as a platform, but Microsoft is OK. If you want to work for ISP then maybe go for PHP and MySQL

I don't know there'r study on domain and hosting... but there're one book called "Domain name for dummies" from Dummies series...

For web development study, you could try "The newbies Guide to Web design". It's a crash course if you're in a hurry...
