Web Page hosting help please?
The methods for uploading your work to a host server depend on that particular service.
Some of them allow FTP (which is fairly common). Some have server extensions that allow you to modify and edit directly. There are various other ways.
I have a bad habit of not clicking random links posted here, so I can't verify which one the service you're looking at uses. However, their sales/customer service area should be able to tell you. That's why they are there.

Generally, yes you will upload your site by FTP. For certain types of site such as Wiki's[1] you may use a different interface to add content, but for a simple site, what you said is correct.
BT certainly are not the cheapest - you don't need to go with them necessarily, just because they provide your broadband (ADSL). I provide web hosting for much less (I'm not going to advertise my site as I think that's against the TOS, but you can contact me directly if you want to know more).
