Hi there, from dnsstuff.com i get the following
Your NS records at the parent servers are:
ukns4.vaserv.com. [84.18.200.166 (NO GLUE)] [GB]
ukns3.vaserv.com. [84.18.200.165 (NO GLUE)] [GB]
[These were obtained from ns1.nic.uk]
but then further down i get
Your NS records at your nameservers are:
ns492.hostgator.com.
ns491.hostgator.com.
(which is still pointing at my old host)
as a result 50% of people cannot access my site, can someone please tell me how to correct the NS nameservers.
Please?! I'm tearing my hair out!

You need to allow propagation to occur between the name servers. This usually takes about 24 hrs but can take upto 72hrs.
Next time, have your provider lower the TTL on the A record, this will cause the DNS record on clients computers to be updated more often. When you change the record to reflect the new address the clients will get the update faster.
Some people need to do an ipconfig /flushdns

point your old server's to the new server's. or leave a link behind in your old server's so user's can click go to new server and enter site.
