I have a mac, i want to connect to my friends computer only that is a PC with Vista (eew) Is there any way i can do this? I was thinking of him connecting to my hard-drive throughout he sharing utilities provided in leopard, but hald the Windows uses can't access the "url" like afp://19x.xxx.xx.x. I have enabled all the sharing methods on system preference such as file sharing and web-sharing. Did I set the access privileges incorrectly? Under web sharing it gives me 2 links, one is link for others, and on is a "personal" link.
I was wondering is ther another wya of sharing files between my friend and i? liek a private P2P connection? Something liek say limewire only among my computer and his? any way he can access my harddrive and i can acess his? FTP requires a host server i think, and if i can make my mac a host server that would be great, but i do not know how. I also don't know how to use SMB/ samba very well either. any one got any say on this. Help will be greatly appreciate.
Trying to connect a PC and a Mac not on a network (P2P, FTP, SMB, Host)?
I have very little experience with Mac, but highly recommend taking a thorough look at Samba... I'm using it to connect multiple distributions with Windows with great success and a minimum of fuss. Shared folders on the Windows box are visible and accessible from the Linux machines (Ubunto, OpenSUSE, and Mandriva distributions) via the smb://WindowsComputerName URL.
