I've been looking for a web host for the first time and I've spent weeks sorting through the staggering amount of information from dozens of different web host ranking websites, etc. I'd love feedback from the unbiased users on Y! answers
-need a good basic web host
-would like to ultimately host 3 websites on one account
-expect the websites to be small, simple (2 are for a small start up biz and one personal)
-primarily use a Mac, although I have access to PC
-like the shared hosting plan prices but don't know who to choose
-need the domain name(s) too
I'm finding that the user reviews are all over the place - like one website will have 100% glowing positive reviews of Lunarpages and then the next one will tell you it's a nightmare; then you get the same thing for Hostgator, and now I don't know who to believe about any of the dozens of choices I've looked at.
I'm drowning in a sea of Web hosting choices!!! please help!?
i know there are so many choices. the web hosting market is so competitive. therefore you need to expect what kind of fighting going on for getting customer. don't worry about them but what you should really concern is how many domain you need for a short term maybe like for a year or two. about domain name some web hosting offer free domain for a year and even there are company offering free domain name for life and usually if you only continue to host with them. for web space one page of website average around 15-30 Kbs. so if you making a small biz website with 100 page then it needs 1.5 - 3 Mb of spaces. but if content has a lot of images then it would be more. so you figure out that first. a lot of big web hosting company are offering a lot of web space like 200-300G or 20000 - 30000 Mb but only allow one website to occupy that space. that plan is not for beginners but for biz already thriving and big. I suggest you find a hosting plan somewhere around USD3 - USD5 with web space around 500MB to 5 G with bandwidth somewhere around 50G - 200G and allowed 3-5 hosted domain(pay special attention on this when looking at the hosting plan - ask them if you can find that at their website) or multiple sites. it is enough for a startup biz. hope it helps.
