I have been with Yahoo since 2000, and are very happy with their service. Yahoo might be a little more then other web hosting services, but they are there 24/7, and you know they will be there in the future. The smaller operations might not be as highly capitalized and do not have the R & D that Yahoo has.

And as your needs change, they have the plans to work with you. The custom email service ($35- yr) is a great way to start.

ps: what ever service you use, buy the domain name for at least 5 yrs, you can "take it with you" where ever if you own it outright.
