How do i check if a web hosting company is legit..

I am worried about a certain web hosting company that i want to do business with and just wanted to find out if they are ways i can go about checking on them, eg.. how reliable and genuine they are..

If they appear untrustworthy, don't do business with them. And let me just tell you right now, there are tons of places that sell 5000GB discspace with 2000000GB of bandwith for 15 cents a year. These places are eigher just plain scams, or they severly oversell, meaning if you actually tried to use all of that, the server would crash or run out of room.
