i have recently started growing a pink silk tree and it has grown to around 3" high and has 2 branches but one of the branches has only 1 big leaf and no growing tip the other branch has 2 smaller leaves and a growing tip between them, as i am a bonsai noobie i dont know if this is optimal, in the instructions i got with the seeds there is a picture of what it should look like and this states that there should only be one stem coming from the seed leaves and splitting into 2 leaves with a growing tip between them, so do i need to remove the branch with the one big leaf to promote even growth? i managed to take a piccy of the tree its hosted at

Bonsai persian pink silk tree from seed?
That's a good photo. Did they give you a botanical name of the tree? It appears to be a mimosa which is often called the silk tree. Looks like it's doing well, so you need patience. Don't remove any branches yet. Give it a chance to grow more before you do any training. You might want to look at the Bonsai Care page on my website:
http://www.american-bonsai.com , or maybe email me at
wchoat@american-bonsai.com if you have more questions.
This could be an outdoor tree, but won't know until we get the botanical name. There are also some indoor trees that have this type of leaf from the 'acacia' family.
