What is the whole idea of rapid share and downloading files from the internet. And when you download the file how do open them. In other words what program or file do use to open them with. Is it legal? Because from what i saw on the list there are a lot of files and programs you would pay for. Like games and programs for the computer. (microsoft word).

You can upload any type of file to Rapidshare. If you want to upload your home video, or school paper, you can. And then you can send the links to others and have them download what you uploaded. However, Rapidshare is somewhat the "standard" for illegal file sharing via file hosting websites. The copyrighted stuff that is hosted on rapidshare is illegal. But the website it's self is perfectly legal as long as you aren't uploading or downloading copyrighted software, music, games, etc.
