I have used web sharing in IIS (Windows server 2003). All links to web pages work BUT links to exe files do not!
Any favourable answers???
Why web pages with exe links dont work when run through IIS?
An EXE is an executable file. In earlier versions of IIS, the file would be executed on the web server whenever its URL is accessed. This poses security problems for people who set up IIS without understanding what the hell they're doing.
Windows 2003 disables this feature by default so that the clueless can't accidentally open themselves up to a whole host of security problems.
The easiest way to get around it would be to zip up your exe file (using right click -> sent to -> zipped (compressed) folder)
