I'm hosting an Open House for my niece. She doesn't want to give the impression that she's begging for new stuff (but we don't want to discourage gifts, either). I don't mind stating that my husband and I are hosting, but don't want to sound tacky. Are there any etiquette rules regarding this?
When throwing a party for someone else, should the invite state who's hosting?
I think that it is important to state on the invitation who's hosting the party.
When you host a party on someone elses behalf, you are not only taking "credit" for hosting the party, but also making yourself the official contact person for RSVP's, questions, driving directions, etc., thus relieving your guest of honor of the burden of doing anything more than getting themselves and their home ready, and enjoying the party.

The proper etiquette would be to, YES, state who the hosts will be.

I believe when you are "throwing a party" for someone else, they should be the one featured, however in small print on the bottom or back of the the invite. You write RSVP or contact so & so for more information.
