Linux is an Operating System, it works on any pc.
I think you mean if linux server is better then windows server. If that is the case then it depends if money is an issue. If money is no issue I'd say go the windows route, the new Windows servers are plenty good but really expensive. Linux is excellent if you are tech-savy because you can customize it to your EXACT needs which makes it much more efficient.

Linux servers are usually cheaper, because Linux is an Open Source OS. If you don't need MySQL for your data base, then go for Linux; I'm using a Linux server and I got it because it was really inexpensive compared with Windows servers. But do search more, I'm not a hosting professional.

linux is far better to use as a server...1 linux doesn't crash, 2.Linux doesn't freeze. 3 People don't make viruses for Linux OS......

Linux makes a very good server base. It is a solid performer and once setup correctly just works! I see someone said if you dont need MySql then run linux, that is just wrong, MySql was built originally for linux then ported for Windows.
