I have a domain name (.co.uk) and want to get a web page on the net with links to email, asking questions, people to register and to receive payments. What kind of hosting do i need and what kind of size (mb etc) would i need.the page ive designed with windows is only about 5kb..
Ive bought a domian name and want it hosting-what do i need.?
First you'll need someone to host it, your host will need to be compatible with what ever company you choose to do your banking with. In our case we use HSBC, so we needed an SSL certificate - this is a good idea when dealing with credit cards anyway. We also needed it done on the cheap so we used a basic LAMP setup.
There are countless stores you can use, oscommerce is pretty good, has lots of support and a thriving community of people willing to help you out.
Size entirely depends upon the number of products you have and how good you are with your graphic app of choice.
Credit card processing is not entirely pain free, it can be quite tricky to set up, though companies like world pay make it relatively straight forward. They tax you good for the privilege though.
There are literally hundreds of different ways you could build an online presence. There is no single best solution unless you're willing to put in some long hours building it yourself from scratch.

Now that you have a domain name, you are required to host it with some prestigious hosting provider. as you are aiming to receive on line payments, hence free hosting providers will not suit your requirements.
