I sent this email out to my bible study group. Was it rude? I didn't think so, but some of the members were offended....I was only trying to stick up for the person who hosted. She cooked her BUTT off and no one showed (and didn't even tell her they weren't coming)...
Here's what I said:
"I want to say this with the highest level of respect for everyone, but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be sure to inform the bible study host if you will not be attending bible study. Opening your home requires a tremendous amount of time, preparation and sacrifice. We want to show honor to our gracious host by informing them whether or not we will be attending - that way food and energies are not wasted. "

I thought you bible thumpers were suppose to be more considerate than that.
The note is fine.

Yeah, you should have had one more PLEASE.

i dont find it offensive. maybe saying "gracious host" was making that person look high and mighty to them.

I think the letter is good, and not rude at all.

I can see how people would be offended but I believe you were totally justified to send that out. But maybe at your next meeting the leader should make it clear that everyone should RSVP for something like that. Or just send out little reminders via e-mail when it comes up.
