My question is if I have exchange running my email address me@mydomain.com and the website www.mydomain.com and the name servers gets moved will my exchange still receive the emails going to the address me@mydomain.com ? Any help will be great. Thanks!
Nameserver and domain name question?
DNS changes usually take up to 24 hours to propagate, so when you switch the NS record from it's current IP to the new IP you will have a window where it's possible that mail could bounce and never get to you. The best way to avoid this is to set the TTL (time to live) setting on your DNS record to something small like 5 minutes about a week before you intend to do the cutover. That way all the DNS servers out there on the net will be checking for a new record every 5 minutes and when you cut over the change should get propagated very quickly. Afterwards you can set the TTL to something normal like 24 hours.
