I wish to start a website, a personal site with not many pages.
I have read about packages like Dreamweaver and MS Frontpage. Apparently these are accessible for beginners, and take away a need to understand HTML.
I would like my site to have an attached email address, with email login for that site only for me.
Now I am confused. I have googled how to buy one. Many results come back. Who should I go with?
A big question for me is, regardless of who I buy it from... if say that host went bust would my site die? How do I guarantee that regardless of who I choose, my site remains online forever? As in... once I pay for it, what is my obligation to them?
I see there are annual fees involved. If my site became big, what's to stop the host putting it up from say 拢7 a year to 拢1000 because of any success?
It is all very confusing. Basically, I want to build one, but maintain it hassle free and not get a nasty surprise one day.

There are lots of free options out there too. I just use Google Pages for all of my websites. It has tons of space and your Domain name is like the user name for your gmail account then .googlepages.com and then whatever the name you want your website to be
ex. name.googlepages.com/mywebsite
Its great for small personal websites, plus you just have to get a Gmail account, which most people have anyway, but, if you want your website to be a little more popular, then i would us 1&1 or GoDaddy.com. As for a website creator, i would just use Microsoft Frontpage, because i have heard it is very easy to use. I doubt the rates of website hosting will go up to much unless you buy whats called a premium domain name (like a domain name with words in it that are very commonly searched) which are $1000+ dollars a year. If your website gets popular enough, i would buy a home server. Also if alot of people visit your website, i would get Google AdWebs, which is this thing where you get money for putting ads on your website, like a certain amount of money per click of the ad.
