I bought a domain name from 1and1.com and it says that they will send me email with in 24 hours, what do i do next to build a website, what is web host and web server do i need both? thanks for help,god bless.

You didn't state if you also bought hosting from the same company. If you just bought the domain name, you'll need to get a hosting account as well. This is the actual space that your site will reside on the internet.

Once you have the hosting account, you'll have access to a control panel where you can do many things, including upload files from your computer to your account. You'll most likely have at least a basic editor included so you can use that to design your pages online. Or you can design your pages offline using programs such as Frontpage, Dreamweaver or NVU (a free alternative) and then just upload them.
