The whole point of having Congress is that travelling to DC, informing ourselves on the issues, and casting votes is too time consuming for the majority of citizens. So we elect others to do it for us. But, in today's world of email, internet, and IM aren't most of those issues obsolete? Look at this forum. People might be idiots, but they have a host of sources at their fingertips and the time and inclination to do so. So maybe we should set up an "E-house" of Congress consisting of we, the people. Allow people to introduce bills, argue them, and vote on them. Anything successful would be sent on to the other houses. There would be details to work out, of course, such as quorum numbers and identity checks, but imagine if we could DIRECTLY influence our government instead of indirectly doing something once every couple of years. Do you think this might work, or would it be a disaster?
Do we need another house in the legislature?
Your suggestion is for a 'House of Citizens', then a House of Reps, then the Senate (house of review). Is that right? I imagine it would take so long to filter through all the mess of spam, trolling, abuse, flaming etc. that to get to real issues would take forever...then you'd have to sort all the real issues into categories to filter further, then attempt to word those issues as bills...probably have to set up a House of PRE-view, then have those issues debated on and sent to the Reps.
