I want to ask everyone out there if it sounds like I'm heading in the right direction.... and if there's anything else I need to learn about......
I'm starting my own informational website. I self taught myself HTML about 5 years ago. I know the basics of it. I have Dreamweaver 8 and just bought the book "Dreamweaver 8, The Missing Manual".... I'm slowly self-teaching myself Dreamweaver.
I've already purchased my domain name...... I just need to find a reputable web host.....
I consider myself pretty computer and web savvy (I'm no IT tech or anything) but I can manuever around better than most people. I want to make sure I'm going to be able to succeed at building my own website and getting it running and possibly in the future have it generating income from ads and other things.....
I realize that since I'm self teaching myself that it will be slow going.... I don't expect to make OODLES of money right away, if ever. But I want to do this website as a sort of SIDE income.....
New to Dreamweaver....and website building????
For hosting I recommend GoDaddy.com, 100% uptime, Exceptional Customer Service, Good tutorials. Google offers some excellent services and tips from Google Analytics to Webmaster tools (links 1 and 2). To get recognized on the web best to do some keyword and title analysis before submitting to search engines. If you plan on updating your website from time to time a sitemap works wonders (link 3)
