I have already registered a domain name and signed on with a hosting company but do no like any of their templates. Once I design the site, how do I link to my domain name?

You can try some of the templates at http://live.office.com
They have many options for small businesses and they have a free basic option. You can get ideas from their templates and go ahead design around that.
After that you just have to upload to your hosting company, and point your domain name to the hosting company's ip address and path.

use an html editor and build your website, then FTP your site pages to your hosting service.

DesignLoad - http://www.designload.net/
Edit and customize the templates using an HTML editor (Dreamweaver or something similar) then FTP the template and pages up to your domain.
