i'm a college art student, and my boyfriend is making me a website to use as a portofolio. my name is Katy (what everyone calls me), but i'm thinking of switching to Kathryn (my legal name) for the domain name of the website and using it as my professional name.
which sounds better for an artist? (my last name has 2 syllables and ends with a Y, if it makes a difference)
Should i change my name?
Your legal name does sound more professional on paper. You can always tell people to call you Katy which makes you more personalble with them.
Should i change my name?
katy is more orginial
Should i change my name?
If you use Kathryn you will be more accepted in the professional world.
Should i change my name?
yea i have the same issue too.. i have a name that everyone knows me by but then i have my legal name. i would Katy since everyone knows you by that name, but when you win awards and stuff you can ask them to change it to your legal name.
Should i change my name?
I worked at a panera bread shop for about 1 year and when people place an order we ask their name and type in into our computer to attach it to their order so that when the order is ready they can be called personally. well needless to say ive heard many many interesting names in that time. but the MOST commen name BY FAR was "katie". our computer system would only allow us to have one order under a name at a time. so usually the clerk just adds a #2 on the end. there were rush hours when i had up to "Katie#6" and all i could think was WHY DOES EVERY KATHRYN GO BY KATIE???? It was thee most commen name by far. and we would even joke about it. so i may be a little bias but i say kate, kathryn, even k-dog! is a vast improvement to otherwise very commen very juvenille sounding"katy!"
