I had the domain romantiqueinteriors.com for 2 years. Then I let it go (thinking no one would want it) and then I typed it today to find its "coming soon" I checked Whois and it says purchased in 2006, so do you think this could be a person "parked" on that domain?
If I get the name trademarked, will I be able to have legal power over this name? I also did a search online and found 1 person in the entire web that says in an interview they started a business called Romantique Interiors in the chicago area, I tried my best to find if its registered locally in chicago and I can't see it listed, and apparently no one has trademarked the name as far as I can see. Please help me with this!

You have no legal right to a domain name, even with a trademark. I remember when the Center for Disease Control was trying to buy the domain name for "bird flu", and the guy who owned it got into a bidding war with them for it. He was just some guy who had the foresight to buy the domain name before the pandemic broke out. They had to pay him big $'s to get control of it.
