I plan to buy and hold several domain names like say about 500 and then sell them to buyers who can't do without the lovely names I will own. Looking for good business insight and help as to what kind of domain names to buy and the road map I should follow to make profits.

Just like any other business, u need to have vision, u need to know what you are doing. Think of the great names, then toss the coin and buy and wait. Someday, someone will offer u some amount u expected, well maybe.

But be aware in those business as u can't buy such as micrsoft.com or microsft.com. As those intention are clearly trying to mess with big companies. There are laws already passed to protect big trademarks.
