Well it means that they(whois) get an expire date from the provider, but it can change. if the day of expire comes they still can extend it.

The notice is basically just warning that you could renew or decide to keep your domain longer than before (past the expiration date), however you can be sure that your domain will expire, so long as you do not have your account set on "auto-renew."
