I have owned a certain domain name since 2005 that is registered with godaddy.com. I do not have a web site affiliated with the name. However, I just typed the name in the URL and it brought up a website that is not mine nor the standard godaddy page that comes up with a site that has not webpage.

How can this be? Is someone hijacking my domain name or what? I just sent godaddy an e-mail with this info but while I am waiting to hear from them I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else or what's going on?

If it is not registered on the WHOIS database, then it free game.

If by a standard under construction or coming soon page is what you mean GoDaddy has probably placed your domain name in their parked pages program. If anyone goes to the website and click on any of the advertiser links GoDaddy will receive the income from the Pay Per Click advertiser. This is common with all domain registrars.

You can also check the status of your domain name with GoDaddy by signing into your account, domains, my domain names and click the name in question. This will give you all of the information on the name.
