Some domain registrars offer anonymous registration or proxy registration when you purchase a domain through their company. This means people cannot just run a WhoIs check on your domain and get your home address and home phone number. I'm considering upgrading my Yahoo mail account, but I won't bother if no anonymous service is available. I don't really care to post my home address and telephone number all over the internet. And if you register a domain name without a proxy of some sort, you're basically doing just that. I know Yahoo keeps my information private now, but do they do the same thing if you register a domain name (which is a little different than their free services) with them?
