Our old web master is no longer with our group. We need to change our tech/admin/contact information to me so I can make any changes to the site if we need to. I was told by the web host he had that I can't without his permission. I don't know where he is and haven't had contact with him for a long time. He was renewing the domain name and simple site for three years and just stopped this year. I happened to stumble on this information by chance and renewed it under his name to keep the domain name. I contacted the web host, paid 400% more than what I pay for mine but had to because that was all they would let me do. I need to know how to remove his name from the tech/admin/contact information and put mine. The web host said to contact ICANN, that that was the only way I was going to be able to change it. I tried to contact ICANN by their online support form and it has been two weeks with no response. Does anyone have suggestions on how to do this?

You have to make the distinction between a web host and a domain name registrar. As it stands, it seems that your have the web host thing all figured out, but you just need to fix up the registration info with the registrar. For ICANN, I suggest you call them and explain the situation as I'm sure they already have dealt with situations like yours. Another option is that some registrars like ICANN can reset your password for your account. What they do is send you a new password to the email address that was used to register the account. If the technical or administrative contact for your domain is actually something like admin@yourdomain.com then you could re-create that email address with your webhost and forward it to yourself. This way you will get the new password and change all of the info you need. Other than that, I simply suggest calling ICANN rather than submitting a ticket.
