what is the normal rpm for a cpu fan for dedicated servers?

I'm affraid this is a very hard question, the rpm of a fan is not determined by the cpu. it depends on what cpu you have, what its used for and how long it runs at full speed. Is the cpu overclocked in anyway, ie ran faster than its rated speed?

usually the fan that is supplied with the cpu is more than adequate. my best answer to this is go to the cpu manufacturer web site and look at the specs for maximum temp, check the bios for how close it is to the max and buy a higher rated fan for a faster cpu, most will state what cpu's are supported by it. Ie if yo have an AMD Athlon 64 4000+, max temp 75c, get a fan that supports a faster cpu like a 5000+. fialing that, go into the bios and set the cpu to shut down if the cpu goes over say 70c. play it safe. its not down to speed but to air displacement. as in cubic feet per minute/ cubic inches per second/ cubic centimeters per second etc.

fan size depicts a lot too, an 80mm fan can displace more air at low speeds than a 40mm fan at high speed..........i gues find out what cpu's are running, find out ratings from manufacturer site, user a higher rated bigger sized, faster fan................

This could vary from server to server and manufacture to manufacture. The only true way to find out is to contact the manufacture or check the paperwork that came with the server.
