I'm using Synology DS207+ and CuteFTP as an FTP Client. We have a dedicated T1 out the building for the FTP Server. One specific user is using Filezilla and after about a month of sucessful downloads, it's really starting to slow. A file from us that once took 1 to 2 hrs to download is now taking days, sometimes a week. Does anyone know what could be doing this, and is there anything on my side that I can do help my clients around the world?
Many thanks in advance!
After many sucessful sessions, downloads from my FTP have beginning to slow WAY down. Why?
information is rather vague so it's hard to say if it's something you folks have done or not.
One thing i would suspect though, particularly if you haven't done anything on your end is if your isp has started to employ traffic shaping or control on FTP protocols.
comcast and other some other isps have been starting to get overwhelmed with more p2p(nefarious file sharing) and have been throttling certain protocols.
As a legit business with a T1, it seems to me this shouldn't happen to you, but it's still possible. I would give your isp a call and see if they are throttling FTP traffic.
