I just want to get a website up and dont' know if I need just the domain name or a web host account as well.
If I buy a yahoo domain name can I upload my site to that url or do I need to have a web hosting account?
You will need a hosting service as well. You can get hosting as little as 4usd a month. The domain name is the pointer/address that is the name for your web site.
Who ever you buy your domain name from probably will have hosing service as well. It will be easier to buy the hosing and domanin name from the same place or you will have to transfer your domain name to your hosing company.
