If they are privately held, it's going to be hard. They don't have to publish public annual reports. You may have to try contacting them, or to get a general idea, try joining a technical professional society - a place where you can mix and mingle with others in the business, OR trade publications that may talk about financial trends in the business. Privately held companies don't necessarily publish this data for anyone outside the company.
